The induction, according to Jett, went well and there was a lot of people present. I wish I could have gone, but I think it would have been far too much for myself and two little ones that needed their beds! I ended up watching a DVD Living in the Freezer or something like that, quite interesting since I didn't know much about Antarctica...and probably most people think it's just cold and full of snow and ice right? Well, I was quite surprised that it wasn't "all" though the majority is just snow and ice. I tried going to bed...not good, it never works when Jett is gone. I tossed for an hour probably maybe snoozed here and there and then Jett came home about 2ish in the morning. And then Aaron was bad for the rest of the night so not a good night at all. I don't want to think about next week when Jett is to go to Inverness for the Theological Conference and that means two or three nights away. :( And then this Sabbath he will be in Uig.
It is almost 10 this morning and maybe not the best thing to be on here (I know it isn't) but if I don't do it now it likely won't get done at all today and then who knows when it will get done this week!
It is almost the end of November already, wow, where does the time go? My bump is growing faster than what I am ready for...well, I feel that way. I still have the delivery and afterbirth pains from Aaron very fresh in my mind...and it is scaring me hopefully by the time I reach 9 months I'll have it less fresh...which doesn't make it easier though. I'm needing good proper advice from some mothers out there, J and I are talking about where to have the baby born, and we're wondering what is the best thing for us and the baby to do. Should we leave after J's done his classes and get back to some settled spot for the summer which is just two weeks before the due date? Or should we just wait here and have baby born on the island? See, a lot of people wouldn't think maybe much different of either places since there is the hospital but I'm not wanting a hospital birth but a homebirth again. Problem, the nearest hospital here is an hour and a half away...is that safe? What do you think? Some say "oh just go to the hospital" but I'm not so sure I want to do that...I'm used to having my own space doing my own things, and having NO interventions whatsoever and that includes pain relief! A homebirth on the mainland though might be a real hassle to work out since I would be stretched for time and I might have a lot of angry midwives and consultants who probably would say I needed to book a homebirth by such and such weeks in the pregnancy... what to do what to do! Awaiting comments :)
On another note, yesterday was absolutely beautiful outside other than later on when it began to rain, but it was horrible inside! Amelia was having one of her emotional breakdowns and although they are not often, they do happen maybe once a month? It was very very difficult to deal with her...how do you deal with a child like that? If she starts to break down there is no use to "disciplining" her because it doesn't work we've tried that, so I thought well, lets just stick her in her room and let her fuss up there...well, I have yet to convince Jett that that might work. It did for a while I thought, and then she broke down again...*sigh* it is not easy, and if anyone hasn't had girls like this you have no idea what it is to go through it! Jett was stunned, he really was, he couldn't understand why nothing was working. Anyways, that doesn't mean we are letting her walk over us by no means!!
So on to some pictures :)
Aaron working on a puzzle... he has figured out that the little red things on each piece is what you hold onto while trying to put it in place...which that part he hasn't mastered.
Oh did I forget to tell you who came to visit us last Saturday?! Didn't snap one of Wylie, but he came too...was so nice to see you both! Amelia couldn't stop talking (the next morning) about "Dabid and Cathrine" it was funny. Cath ended up reading many books to Amy...and well, Amy fell for it - she loves books!
Another funny thing about my picky eater...she likes mustard!! Grilled cheese isn't grilled cheese without mustard I know, strange combination to some but I grew up on this.
Ah, a find from the starfall website (thanks again Sharon!) you can print out these for free of the whole alphabet!
This is what we were trying to do yesterday during one of her "breakdowns" distraction. It worked for a little while.
The finished product yummy, Apple Cobbler, sadly I didn't bake it quite long enough and some of the batter was still runny...*sigh*!! I know Hayley is saying to herself "Food pictures never look good" hmm, I didn't forget did I haybales? ;)
So, that is about it from here. We're missing another Thanksgiving...second one in a row, and I'm sad about that. I suppose I need to get my own dinner going...but the fact is it just isn't as nice without family. Ah well, I'm thankful we are able to see, Lord willing, family in Dec! Must attend my fussing children. another *sigh*! :)

Cobbler looks fantastic (some people like it runny actually!!)
It was lovely to see you again :-) Reading was great fun, Amelia has so many words!
xx
Hey Evelyn! Thanks for the updates...I haven't been able to check anyone's blogs recently because I've been so busy, but now I had a chance. I enjoyed the pictures, or picatures, as you called them, very much. Esp. the one of Jett and Amelia of last post and the one of Cath and Amy.
Wow Amelia looks so grown up! As far as the breakdowns go....hmmm let just say it is a girl thing....We still have it with L and she is 8! They are very passionate and there feelings really come out. L still has time outs in her room. It works for awhile and then you have to do it again. But the older they get the less they do it. :)
Thanksgiving is not the same with out family. :) we try each year to have a special meal with Ks family here but this year they are out of town so it does make us feel much more homesick. :)
We would love to have you all visit us down here. Maybe after the baby is born. Hope you get your homebirth. They should let you tentively set up a homebirth as lots of people move close to the time of delivery I would look into it. As long as you have had a midwife over you and had your regular check up and everything is normal it should be alright.
Wow, I didn't know Starfall had those printouts! I must take another look!
Elijah has had a few "meltdown" days though it sounds like they are perhaps not as bad as you have had with Amelia. I think any underlying discipline issues become much more obvious when he is behind on sleep or has not been eating well (too much sugar, for instance). So I'm trying to control those factors, to make the disciplining easier. :)
Thanks Cath and Sam!
Hi P, glad to know I'm not the only one with breakdowns with the girls! I agree girls have a lot more to deal with than males. Sometimes I wish it wasn't that way...lol, would like to "act" somewhat normal and not cry for silly reasons (yep due to pregnancy!).
Sharon, the thing with Amy is I've always limited her sugar content so I doubt that is a problem, and her sleeping habits I've tried my very best to keep to a routine although lately her naps are sometimes dropped but I just put her to bed a wee bit earlier, I wonder if that is affecting her? Yes, that link is a wee link above the alphabet thingy I mean, you click on the "ABC" link and then you should see at the very top "print out" for teachers or something heehee, I consider myself a teacher :) I know it is kind of pointless for Amelia to have, but I ran out of colouring books for her so I printed Aa out. Hope you find it useful - I sure like the site!!
Hi Ev! You made me laugh, you really do know me, food doesn't usually look good when you take a picture of it. But actually you said it before I got to think it, so then I had to decide whether or not I agreed. :) Problem is, now I want some cobbler. lol
I would be a bit nervous about being too far from a hospital, but at the same time I'd be just as nervous to go to the hospital if I didn't have to! I really hope you get to have a homebirth. That would be so nice! I'm looking forward to seeing you! Please try to stay at my house at least some... I know other people will try to steal you, but I want you!!! luv you! Haybales
Hey Ev,
I think it's neat you're just a week ahead of me as far as the pregnancy goes -- this means I know there's someone who understands and hasn't forgotten what it's like to be feeling like this! :D I can imagine you're more scared about the labor pains than I am, since I've yet to experience such a things. (And mind you, I'm rather terrified about the whole thing!!) I had my first check up with my midwife today. I'm using Jackie, btw -- and she was excited to hear you're expecting your third. I'm pretty pleased with her birth center and I definitely feel better about having a baby there rather than a hospital, since it's so relaxed and quiet there. I also really like how Jackie is so quiet and easy-going -- I would hate to feel pressured and rushed through all my prenatal care! I wish you could just come over here to have your baby! :D
Haybales, the cobbler did taste pretty good I must admit, although I ran out of white sugar so had to use the brown and unfortunately it really tasted like brown sugar. Ah well, next time I'll just get white sugar! Takes forever to peel, core and chop apples though. Poor Amy was waiting to have a turn at mixing and pouring the ingredients. Let me know if you want the recipe if you haven't got your own. :)
Mercy!! Hello! And where has your blog been? I've given up entirely to check your blog because it still states your unmarriedness and honeymoon pictures... :S I know you don't have internet so I guess I have to let you off and with the fact of pregnancy I'll let you slide even further, but we would love to see the happenings of the newly wedded Smiths! ;) I loved Jackie, and it has crossed my mind several times "oh why don't I just go have the baby in Texas!" but I know that isn't going to happen. Ah well, am planning a homebirth no matter where I have the baby...I can't imagine riding in a car while in labour...yuck. Ooh, sorry, if your using the birth center lol, you'll likely be riding in a car...ah well, if your not as far as I was in labour you'll probably be able to cope better I was nearly ready to push baby out by the time we got there...eek! Don't get too scared about the labour and delivery just educate yourself. Everyone is going to have a different time of it and it never hurts to be prepared. I'm sure Jackie will talk you guys into some class we did it...although the breathing tecniques I felt kinda weird doing...never mind when the actual day comes! Anyways this is turning into a email...which I do not have and therefore cannot email you a proper one...hint hint :)
