Small change in plans :)

LOL, most of you will be happy to know I am NOT taking that bus trip anymore. A kind lady named Catherine Dickie decided that she should drive me all the way up to Uig (the ferry to Harris) what she gets out of it...well, nothing, so please send many thank you's to Miss Dickie as she is being very kind to do this for me (us)!!

So, while Jett is busy busy loading things up into the car (and he is doing a grand job of it btw!!) I'm being lazy typing this up...lol...ok, I'm not really just a few notes so that people know what is up. I'll try hard to get the phone number to family members but it may not be till we are there - sorry I didn't do this sooner! So...uhm, I need to make sandwiches for tomorrow and help Jett get things up into the loft and then I think we are there.

My thoughts are also thinking about Uncle Lyle and the family as they are about to take a journey over to Texas, I'm hoping for them a safe flight and hopefully not hectic!

Must go! :)

Family photos!

I should be doing something else rather than typing here. But I figured y'all might want to hear one last time from us before we go off to Harris and have almost no access to internet for a couple of weeks. So, what is new? Uhm...well, last night we had the Dickie clan over for dinner which was very nice. I booked the ferry ticket for Jett, and my own bus ticket and Amelia/Aaron's. Would have booked my ferry ticket as well but I can do that there at least the website appears that way and I think I did that way way back in 2003 with Beck...ooh, don't even want to think about the Ullapool-Stornoway Ferry ride I still say to this day I've never been so sick in all my life I even say it was worse than being pregnantly sick! Anyways, that is information that has been repeated and gets very very boring...as this post is becoming.

Ok, so I'm supposed to be packing and getting ready for this big move over and I find myself wondering what I should do. Most things are packed, it is just all the little things which we have far too much of! Right, I guess I know what I need to be working on. :S

I'm dreadfully nervous about traveling on a bus for 7 1/2 hours with two children! Oh and I have to change at some stage to another bus I'm glad that is only once. Far to easily do we trust in man rather than God when, He is in control of all things. My Oma always emphasized that trusting in the Lord did not mean we could/should be "lazy" about our business, but that we are to do our duty. I just wished I understood more of what she meant by this, I know very little of what I should know.

I mentioned that we got our family photos taken. So I thought I would run a poll on the two that turned out the best as well as some that maybe could work too? I really wonder now what it would have been like in a professional studio - haha! So please leave us a comment and let us know which pose you like best! :)

Pose #1

Pose #2

Pose #3 (Aaron...??)

Pose #4
(this was the last pic that was taken, can you tell?)

And just a interesting one here...no one is looking at the camera but Aaron. I posted this one as an afterthought in case your wondering!

And on to regular not very important pictures of our life! :)
Like mother like son...haha.

This usually happens every dinner time. Jett feeds Aaron, and I help Amelia (although she can feed herself usually).

Poor Jett, some got on his trousers. :S

Amelia really enjoyed this dessert that I made for last night it is one of my favourites to make now and sooo easy!

She helped me beat the whipping cream and now she got her reward :)

And to end my lengthy post is yet another clip of my dear son. Bye for now!

included is a clip

Sometimes I doubt very much that anyone reads this blog of ours. But I guess that can't be true since the neocounter says quite a few people do check up on us. Still, I fear I've gotten boring, or perhaps people have gotten used to not commenting, or even worse just have gotten used to us being overseas meaning that somehow we are not missing family and friends and have a huge selection of friends over here...well in case you wondered we do not have a whole lot of friends, but I believe some friendships have been made since our stay. No...maybe part of the thing is that everyone is soo busy, not that we aren't either but perhaps not the extent as Texas right now. Oh dear, I guess I'm feeling left out. Well yes I am (don't know about Jett but I'm guessing he is too)! We are missing an important event, no make that 3 important events (already missed one) and it is hard. We haven't forgotten Texas but I feel they have forgotten us not that we are much anyways. Sometimes I wish they knew what it was like to live away from family...only Joe and Care can be allowed to say that! Well I suppose all the sister in laws have felt or are feeling a bit of that too.

I'm probably coming across as if I'm complaining or I'm feeling sorry for myself, and I hope I can say no, I can't complain we have too much to be thankful for to complain. The feeling sorry for me self...eek, that probably is there - bad I know, not a good day to be writing a post maybe?

Ok...enough of that then, let me think about all the things that I should be thankful for! Certainly not even half of them will be listed.
  • Healthy Children, not to mention healthy husband and me too
  • Shelter, Food, clothing, water etc (we take these for granted!!)
  • Friends and Family
  • The things to keep in contact with family and friends - phones/internet
  • Photographs :)
  • A keyboard to play on
  • Working oven, washingmachine, etc!!
  • A reliable car
  • The very nice people in Perth congregation
  • The very nice people in Edinburgh congregation (LOL, better not keep that list going it would be a whole lot...would be a lot of congregations!!)
And I can't think at the moment due to Amelia saying to me "A petty pano, yah?" She wants to play...so better be off. Oh...was going to put a clip up...

one more thing

We got family photos taken last Saturday! So that is one thing to look forward to getting...well, not for awhile seeing how we have so much to do but soon I hope! :)

...

Today started out ok. Then turned to bad. And then to worse. It has picked up to being ok now but the day is nearly over anyway.

It started by not enough sleep during the night due to a little boy who slept too much the previous day probably sleeping too much in the car yesterday when we were traveling to Edinburgh then Glasgow and then back home. Got up late as well 8am. And then all the fussing from Amelia started, she hasn't been feeling quite well lately so that is probably part of the problem. And of course if Amelia acts up who is next? Aaron...that probably was again due to needing a new diaper or hungry. So in the midst of two children fussing and one I needed to watch a whole lot due to potty issues lately (she is doing good, very good just poor thing has diarrhea) and then the mess had to happen with Asda...ugh. We got a phone call saying that we needed to call back to... I guess give them another credit card number or whatever but I didn't catch the phone number they gave that we were supposed to call back to, so I finally got the Asda customer number, called them and found out it was cancelled because I didn't call before 9am. That meant I needed to get groceries this morning as we were at the end of our barrel. So Aaron was napping nicely at around 10:30ish so I got out with Amelia and went to Morrisons as it was nearest. Now wouldn't you like to know what I passed on my way there? Yes, the Asda Truck...I didn't know exactly if they were going to my place so I kind of just put that out of my mind and carried on. I got to Morrisons and Jett called...yep, Asda came. :S Ok but they said it was cancelled?! So Jett had a wasteful morning trying to figure that out. I didn't go for no reason to Morrisons thankfully had to drop off some dry cleaning, but it felt like a wasted trip nonetheless. Got home to lots of groceries so I put them up fed Amy lunch and put her down for her nap. I then was in the process of making lunch for Jett and myself...(and I forgot to mention that I put up some sheets outside to dry I think before I left for Morrisons.) Right before we started to eat lunch I hung up some wet laundry (inside that is) and then...it started to rain...ho hum, I thought, it is raining...well maybe it will stop soon... a few seconds later it down pours....ugh...I thought, well maybe it will stop soon... I hope...and then of course it has to downpour even harder. Gone was my idea of it ever stopping but it did eventually. I have yet to find out if my wash is anything near dry on the line.

Well that was the worst of the day. I am hoping things will settle down again but I fear that is not likely to happen seeing we move next week! So yes, this afternoon I was busy with packing. And most of the packing is on my shoulders because Jett is taking the services here. At least he can pack up his books and room etc! It looks more likely that he will take the car loaded to the brim with stuff while I take the bus with the kids. At least with the bus I can take out Aaron from the car seat if and when I need to. But I have yet to see us ready to go and that is not yet!

So my week has looked very busy from monday and onwards already. Monday I had an appointment with the chiropractor and then we went to the bookroom and the Macleod's for dinner. Today was the above which seemed very unproductive however I can say that I nearly have all the children's clothes packed and most of Amelia's room is completed. Next is my stuff, then the bathroom stuff and hallway, and on to the kitchen/dining room. So much...maybe a bit too much that it seems overwhelming to me but I'm trying to stay optimistic and tackle one room at a time. So...we'll see what tomorrow brings, abw!

But for now I need to be thankful with what I have and I need to remind myself of what I take for granted (which is soo much isn't?). It was a good day yesterday, and I might add especially the evening service. They put a large speaker in the vestry so now I can hear crystal clear (so to speak) - very nice when you have children who tend to be far from quiet!

Oh and one more thing. Jett and I caught Amelia copying (as she is doing a lot of this lately!) . She had a play cup and play spoon and pretended to mix something. Off she went to get Dolly. Then she folded Dolly's hands and started to pray. And then came the meal. It was cute to see as you can imagine! She also is starting to keep Aaron occupied at times, I do hope they will be good friends/playmates when he gets a wee bit older.

Ok...dishes are beckoning me to wash'em, rinse'em and dry'em (well drip dry actually).

Just another wordy post

I never mentioned this in my last post and that probably had to do with children crying and screaming...hmm the life of a mom what a book that would be...but I popped into see the Health Visitor wednesday. I got Aaron weighed and measured and got his first bookstart pack (finally). He measured below the 50th centile actually it was closer to 25th centile then anything I think that is basically saying he is below average...that didn't worry me so much, but the weight now is concerning me. See, they didn't plot that one on his chart so I didn't know what centile he was so I did it myself as it it seems very easy to do and it looks like he is also below average. According to the weight from 8wks he weighed (and I'm doing this is pounds here but I have both) 12lbs and now at 27 weeks he is only 16lbs 3oz?!?! What? he gained only a mere 4 pounds in 4 months?? Is that normal? Obviously he is a wee bit underweight according to their charts, but we are feeding more solids lately so hopefully he'll gain some more in a wee while. So that is Aaron.

Amelia of course is just a ramble worm...talking talking talking. Oh boy I really ought to catch her on video when she says her "Eww Gross" it is so funny. In her bath tonight she decided that putting your ear to the water is funny...like talking on a phone...in fact she was telling me she was talking to Terry...I'm thinking ok...that's fine but Grandma Terry isn't in the water and that is not a phone! See she wanted to talk to Oma and Grandma Terry this afternoon *sooo* badly. So we left a message on Oma's phone and then called Grandma Terry. Amy is a silly girl...she has to switch the phone to one ear to the other like mom and dad oh and sometimes she'll pace like her daddy.

Anyways, I could tell you about all the nitty gritty details of life but that would consume this page into a massive volume of a series of books. I will mention one thing however...and that is I walked into the door post of the dining room door just before church yesternight and got a nice knot on my forehead...needless to say I felt pretty dumb to walk into the door post when the doorway has ample space provided to walk through!

Off I go to eat cereal and read. Till next time. :)

Miles! Miles!

Amelia says "Miles" instead of smile. And to prove it...

Blair Castle, Ft. William and Carrot :)

We are home now! After so much driving in the past two weeks I think we are quite ready for a break...ahh, but it will only last for two weeks! We hope to leave for Harris the 26th...exactly two weeks today. We are still discussing how we are going to move there: whether I get a bus and he takes the car or we all go in the car. Slightly concerned about going there for 8 months but I shouldn't be worried too much right?

So packing will consist of most my time again for the next week and a half - alas I haven't started and actually I've been trying to catch up on cleaning and laundry!

Amy has been counting to 10 and ever since our drive to Ft William she attempts to sing the ABC song... sounds more like this "Douboo U, y and z ...now know my ABC'S! know my ABC'S!" lol... she is cute. She is also getting into this "Ewwww, grosss" stage. Pretty hilarious listening to that...not sure if you would want to hear her say it..but it is very funny! Or how about having your name Gerrit? For a 2 yr old it is very easy to say it "Carrot" Uncle Carrot! :)

To the pictures now seeing there is quite a lot here! Ok...we didn't go on the day I said we would to Blair Castle but we went on Friday (the weather was more favourable). And...I didn't get a single photo while we were at Uncle Lyle's and Anna's - I don't know why but that is just how it happened. :(

So this is where we went last Friday. Travelled up to Blair Atholl to see this...
It was quite nice, but when you see one castle it is basically like you have seen them all (in some degree). Again Jett and I enjoyed (most of all) the outside.
I feel like this picture looks like something from a story book.
we have a picture on that bridge looking towards where I took this picture (lol that makes no sense!)

Oh the trees!!! They were so large, straight and massive!

Aren't they lovely?

My handsome man. :)

This was taken on that bridge looking towards the castle and where I was standing.

A walk way that leads to stairs...not a good idea with a stroller.

Me...

We were looking at and *up* the trees, trying to span them with our arms and so forth...they were just beautiful. I guess I really like trees!

A very nice smile of AJ she sees the camera and starts to say "Miles! Miles" Instead of Smiles lol!

During our picnic lunch...

The table

LOL, she wasn't saying her "ewww gross" but it looks like she was!

Aww such cuties!

A scenic view of some river that-I-don't-have-a-name-for that runs "almost" straight through Scotland if not straight through altogether! This was on our way to Ft. William.

Just a wee turn of the camera and you got this view!

And this view. Reminded me of the Hoover Dam...well, slightly :)

Ok, and thats it! Must run and get some work done...again!

Dingwall Communion

So we've been away for the weekend and are just now trying to catch up on the million and one things that need to get done before we have to go to Harris. I'm still going through things and deciding what is necessary to take along and what isn't. And I think we've decided on leaving things behind if we are allowed to. Our car's radiator is leaking so we have to get that fixed some time this week and Jett got an oil change today.

Anyways, our visit to Dingwall was nice, and the drive very scenic. Enjoyed being at Peter and Rachel's (not sure how much they enjoyed us intruding though!). It was very nice to see Amelia playing with Abigail and Benjamen. And since we've left I have heard quite a bit about Abigail!

I overheard this...

Amelia: Ah like it Ah-gi-bail!

a little while later...

Amelia: Awww Ah-gi-bail! Awww Ah-gi-bail.

I think she misses Abigail!
And of course a blog post is always nicer with some photos!
Amelia called this at first a piano, but was soon corrected in calling it a violin...I thought she mastered the position-to-play fairly well. Abigail, packing herself up to ship somewhere. Yes, she did this all by herself and to herself!

In the front garden.

Amelia and Benjamen playing.

Poor Benjamen. He was looking at a big black crow that was perched on top of the house (and cawing quite nastily too) he started to cry at one point, I felt sorry for him so I picked him up.
Oh...no more pictures. I guess I did a horrible job of getting photos in Dingwall! And now that I think of it I didn't even get a picture of the Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds!! :S Rachel's cooking of course was very lovely and I'm afraid I was little help to her. :(

Maybe I'll get to post another time this week but likely not since we hope to go see Blair Castle tomorrow! And go to Ft. William this weekend. Will try to get more pictures of those times. We passed Blair Castle on the way home from Dingwall and it looks very beautiful set in hills etc. For more information on what we hope to tour visit Blair Castle for more details.

Until next week all being well.
