Photoshoot photos

During the last visit at my mom's (before we left Canada) my mom paid for a family photoshoot.  I'm now getting to the posting of our family photos.  Samuel, you would've done a much better job I think!  But nevermind, we can't always get perfection...and certainly not with wee children!
Photo #1

Photo #2

Photo #3 lol!

Owen, Amelia holding Keith and Aaron

This is probably my favourite.

Ok...I have to admit I start laughing and almost crying at the same time looking at this picture.  This is me with my siblings. L-R: Ben, Jackie, Me, and Jeremy  Love these guys so much!

Amelia. :)

Keithie :)

And now it is nearly lunch time, which means I need to start making it because for some reason lunch doesn't make itself.

Around the back yard

My laundry lines and Aloe Vera plants.

Kids play yard...just need some table and chairs for ourselves!

Another piece of our yard looking out the white gate see above picture.

I do not like this new blogger format...it is messing everything up for me right now!!  I wanted to write a bit before the photos and it won't allow me to do so without messing up the pictures dreadfully.  I have limited tech skills!  Anyways, just a few pictures of the outside around the house. :)

Mommy's of many littles

I have been searching. Searching for a method or a way, that would solve all of my difficulties as a mommy of little children (with no older kids to help, or outside help). It has taken me almost 7 years and 4 babies to discover that there is no real solution (unless you've discovered the solution please let me know!!). I've discovered helps such as routines (and you should know that I really really like routines), but there isn't a solution to the heavy workload, the crying babies, the tantrums, the fighting children, the many many messes (ie. diapers, potty training, crafts, playing in the dirt etc), laundry, the lack of sleep (a very big one for me), and not to mention pregnancy things (morning sickness...or all day sickness etc) and the emotional drain on the body too. There may be a solution if you can afford it, but no one can teach or train your children for you as you would.

I've recently read a book on managing a large family but it was worthless for me. Because I do not have children who are old enough to be able to share the work load. The book itself said that if your a mommy of only littles it is basically just hard going until you have one old enough to really help. If someone would've told me that, I wouldn't have bothered buying the book. :) Now that being said I would clarify that Amelia is of age to learn, as is Aaron, but again, this is something else I have to do before they are able to be big helps, we have to teach them.

So how do you encourage one who is a mommy of littles and only littles? I think the main answer is quite clear. We need to be daily clinging to the Lord. He alone can give us the strength to continue "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." Some people can live week by week (so to speak) but when your a mother of many littles we often live moment by moment. I find if I'm praying more, praising more, reading more (even if its little bits) and loving more the day goes smoother. What else could I add to that list?

Instead of searching for a solution, I need to be resting upon the Lord.

Note: As I wrote this I worried about people thinking, either 1. I'm looking for help, or 2. I'm complaining of my station in life. Neither are true. I'm just jotting down a few thoughts I had today. :)

more pictures

Can you guess what this is?

It obviously goes here. I told Jett he had to get this up before he went to Gisborne.

Oops. Flash! These are my lions...er, our lions. My talented husband drew these way back in '95ish.

And dis is my kitchen! (Which is messy...oops!)
And dis is my baby chomping on blanket/duvet (nom nom nom!)

Very cute he is. :)
Are we getting anywhere with the boxes?
Until next time... :)

First Impressions

I've been trying to get to this for half a week...really! But every time I sit down to write a bit, something else comes up that needs to be done. I could wait till I'm fully settled in before I write a blog post here, and I will wait till then for a proper introduction to our home. So, for now here is a wee bit to wet your taste. :)

The first flight to LA went well, and getting to our connecting flight was easy and fine (we made it in decent time John!) the long haul flight went very well too, surprisingly it didn't feel like almost 13hrs! The kids did very well, and there really isn't much to tell of that flight. So we arrived finally after almost a year of waiting...to a sunny, bright Auckland. It was lovely to finally meet & greet some of the congregation that day and the next!

A short drive and we arrived home. I couldn't (and am still having a hard time) believe that this was the subdivision we are going to live in...so beautiful (think trees)! And after a week living here, you can tell that it is nice and quiet too.

Someone (I have yet to find out who this was!) put this lovely bouquet of flowers on our table, which was very welcoming!

But what first greeted us was in the living room/lounge...
Thank you Monique for the sweet gifts, I really like my mug!
Thank you to Ida, Melissa, Ann, Yvonne & Linda for the lovely meals! It was a huge relief for me not to have to cook for the first little bit! And the meals were very tasty! :)

Also thank you Melissa for letting me borrow your cot & a few toys!

The manse is just gorgeous. I felt I was dreaming coming up the drive way...it just looked too beautiful to be real! I mean who has lovely gates like this?
See what they did to the garage doors?? LOVELY! Jett's study is so spacious and bright - I know he is going to enjoy it very much!

And that is our lovely van...very very nice!
Home!
The room you see with the two windows (blinds up) is Aaron & Owen's bedroom plus play room. to the left of that you see a patio door (is that what they call a ranch slider?) and that is our large, bright bedroom.
But that is all I'll share...because, everything is kind of disorganized at the moment. Dressers are coming Monday/Tuesday so at least I can get our clothes sorted - very messy otherwise!

We've done a lot of this in the past week and we still aren't through.

Yes, books and more books!

What a mess.

So we have much, much to be thankful for. The Lord has provided so much for us and He continues to provide. I don't think we can thank the congregation here enough for all their hard labour in getting the manse ready. We greatly appreciate it, and I can't say enough how beautiful this home is!

The last time

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; A time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

This week (and the next) we are saying good bye to friends and family. Some of them we hope to see again but for some of them it may be the last time we see them on this earth. I am trying to stay positive, but the reality is hard. We don't deserve such family or friends, and I hope I am very thankful for them all. We will miss you all very much!

May it be all for the Lord's glory and not our own.

:)

What does this picture mean?Remember there are only two people in our household that hold Canadian passports.

Yes, you guessed it.

THE VISA'S ARE HERE!!!

Did you know Amelia told me that they would be coming today?? I of course, didn't believe her, I was thinking maybe next week. But no, exactly one week from when we sent it off we have received them, and now we are free to go home! We are overjoyed! Or...maybe I am the one that is overjoyed!

A cute wee man and snowmen

What!? He is 2 months already?Where has the time gone?

Hmm!

Well wherever the time went, we certainly can count our blessings. And he is a very special one.
It snowed all day yesterday and gave us a lovely 7 or more inches of snow.

Our new family photo. :D

Headbands and more!

Isn't this pretty?

Want to know who is making them?

No, no, not me! I wish I could though. :)
Rather, it is my sister in law Hayley that makes these pretties!
Here she is with her cute family (until, all being well, number 3 comes)!

Check out what she has in her Etsy shop here: Hayleyslittleplace

a busy week!

We've had quite a busy week! Applying for Keith's passport, getting Amelia's bloodwork taken, groceries, doctors appointment, and attempting to see the midwife (failed). I don't know if I feel like much has been accomplished although Jett says that there was. I'm tired. These night time feeds are hard to keep up lately that is! Keith is doing so well though. He weighed in at 11lbs 4oz on thursday, so a total of 3lbs and 8oz gained since birth. He already has grown a couple of inches longer too and he has such a sweet smile. A very contented baby! He was nearly laughing at me today. It makes me wonder what kind of personality he will have. Will it be like Aaron's - the clown of the family? Or like Amelia's - our perfectionist? Or like Owen's - the sensitive, yet highly energetic? Or, something completely his own? :)

Aaron turned 4 on the 2nd. And Oma bought him "Cranky the crane" (Thomas & Friends)

And of course he liked is so much!
My birthday was on the 7th, which as a mom doesn't mean much! :) But I did have my mom over the weekend here, and on Saturday my dad, my sister, and my niece came up for the day.

Owen is happy to have Daddy back. He is starting to say more words finally!

This was taken the weekend before Jett flew back. We or rather I made a snowman with the kids.

My back doesn't do well with baby-wearing, but I needed to get somethings done and he wanted to be held. This is the only "carrier" that I enjoy using (Sleepy/Moby wrap).

What a cutie he is! My mom bought this seat for him to use here for the time we are in Canada. This was taken yesterday after the failed trip to Owen sound. The roads were getting so bad, cars were starting to slip/slide on the ice and even hitting other vehicles.

I decided to let Owen play with play dough. I helped him make something he could recognize. This kid likes the alphabet. It's hard to keep him from singing it on some days!
I don't know when this was taken...but he is slightly smiling here. We've got him really smiling on video but with this new laptop I haven't got a clue how to upload them to here!

Today, I got these two to wash dishes. Amelia is really quite good at it, but Aaron well, he finds the water such a fun thing to play with. :)

And that is our little update for now. I'm off to make some dough for pizza tonight (I don't make the dough very often, hope it turns out!) and then to check on prices for flights to...home (Auckland)!!

Progress :)

We are starting to see some progress with immigration stuff. I was checking online, yesterday, to see the status of Keith's birth certificate and they were saying something like 16 wks approximately for the registration process...I couldn't believe it. Another 4 months?? So I decided to call them first thing this morning...and wow, he is already registered! So now we are waiting the birth certificate. Hopefully in a weeks time! The next step after that is to get his passport (2wks wait) and get his medical/physical done and send off the visa (possible 4-6wks). I so hope that we can finally have things arranged by March to finally go home! :) So thats that.

On to Keithy, Kitty, or Quiche (lol I would never have thought of that nickname poor boy) I think I'll try hard to just call him who he is. :)

Peekaboo!Oh there you are!

First attempt at the kids being photographed altogether...Nice foot Owen...and oops they are all in pyjamas!

And this morning...what a difference and all dressed for the day too...er except Keith who is in a sleeper...likely will be for the whole day too.

Another Keith photo.

He has grown so much in 4 weeks! I hope to have him weighed tomorrow, but that depends entirely on the weather, which looks awful right now.

a couple of photos

I'm tired.
My mom is leaving tomorrow.
Keith will be 3 weeks old on Wednesday.
There are 3 more weeks left before Jett comes back here.
Supposedly the flu is going around.
We have colds.
I look awful in this photo. But the baby is so cute.
I gave the boys hair cuts and well, uhm, I BUZZED way too much off of Owen...he looks criminal now.
Yes, you may laugh...he won't know. :D

This baby needs another bath...I have forgotten how much newborns spit up.

I found a nice dining suite on trademe (NZ's ebay basically) but I cannot do anything about it until Jett does (they know I'm not there).
Jett bought a bed!
Jett is also in Australia.
Amelia reads my emails (AHH!)
So she asked if Daddy was going to see kangaroos...
Mommy doesn't know.
because...
Mommy still feels like she has pregnancy brain. :D
Owen is oversleeping....!
And Mommy just realized.
